Getting into The Quire.
Four steps, about ten minutes of setup, plus however long the whitelist takes. The Quire is whitelisted and runs its own set of mods, so there is a little setup the game cannot do for you. Work through these in order and you are in.
From nothing to in-world.

01
Get the game on 1.22.5
The Quire runs on Vintage Story 1.22.5. Match it. If your game sits on an older or newer build, set it to 1.22.5 in the launcher before you go further.

02
Get on the whitelist
Join the Discord and give your Vintage Story player name. The world is whitelisted, so you cannot connect until your name is on the list. The Discord is also where the server address lives.

Start with a clean mods folder
The server sends its mods when you connect, into ModsByServer. Your own mods folder still loads alongside it, so empty that first. On Windows it is %appdata%\VintagestoryData\Mods. A leftover mod is the most common reason a join fails.
If you play other servers or singleplayer with different mods, keep The Quire in its own install or launcher instance so the two never mix.
Emptying your own Mods folder does not clear a stale copy sitting inside ModsByServer. If a join keeps failing after a clean folder, empty that one too and let the server resend.

04
Add the server and connect
Launch the game, open Multiplayer, choose Add Server, and paste the address from the Discord. Connect. The first join takes a minute while the world settles in. After that it stays on your list.
Once you are in-world, run /starterkit before you set out. It covers the first day, so you are not beginning bare-handed.
If a join fails
Almost always it is a version or a mod that does not match. Two things to check, in this order:
- — {{ c }}
Still stuck, ask in the Discord. Someone has hit the same wall.
What the server sends
One curated pack, delivered on join. The centrepiece is the trade system: twenty-two callings, each ranked Untrained to Grandmaster, every rank earned by doing the work.
